If There’s Anything I Can Do

Maybe you have heard someone say this, or maybe you have said it before, in your desire to help someone in need – “if there is anything I can do, just let me know.”

And then we leave. We mean well, and we surely would do anything the hurting person needed.

But now we have given them yet another task to do – contact us if they need anything.

Most people feel bad enough needing anything else and will likely not make the effort to ask you to do anything else for them.

May I suggest a better way. If necessary, do the homework ahead of time, find out what the griever needs or wants, and do it.

Often it is a simple little task or item, such as yard care, message delivery, food pickup, meal prep and so on.

In this way, you care for someone grieving the loss of a loved one is expressed in a real and tangible way.
